The characteristics of the Hockanum River are such that canoeists and kayakers can be found enjoying it during most seasons of the year. Following are pictures taken from several areas along the Hockanum River Linear Park trail.

In addition, beginning in 2008 a canoe/kayak race is held in early May, beginning at Labor Field at Woodlawn Circle and ending at the Two Rivers Magnet School on East River Drive, all in East Hartford.
